Cookie Policy

Which cookies DocuDojo uses, who sets them (Google AdSense), what they are for, how long they last, and how to accept, reject or change your choice.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies may be stored in your browser when you visit DocuDojo (docudojo.com), who sets them, what they are for, how long they last, and how to accept them, reject them or change your mind later. The site is run by Socotropo SL (full details in the legal notice). It complements our privacy policy.

The short version

  • DocuDojo is a static website: there is no user registration, no forms, no comments and no newsletter. Our own code sets no cookies at all.
  • We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics tool.
  • We keep a few preferences (language, theme, completed guides and your quiz result) in your browser's local storage. They are not cookies and they never leave your device.
  • The only cookies that may be set are advertising cookies from Google AdSense and its partners. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, they are loaded only after you accept them in the consent banner.
  • You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember something from one page to the next: a preference, a session or an identifier. First-party cookies are set by the site you are visiting; third-party cookies are set by another company whose content loads inside the page (an ad, for example). There are also similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage (localStorage) and device identifiers. The law treats them like cookies when they serve the same purpose, so this page covers all of them.

First-party cookies

None. DocuDojo is made of static pages that are delivered as they are. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no forms, no comments and no subscriptions, so we have no need to identify you or track where you go. Note that some of the Google cookies described below (such as __gads and __gpi) are stored under the docudojo.com domain, but they are created and managed by Google, not by us.

Preferences stored in your browser (not cookies)

So that the site behaves the way you set it up, we store the following in your browser's local storage:

ItemWhat it is forHow long it lasts
Suggested languageRemembering whether you prefer Spanish or English, so we stop suggesting a switch.Until you clear your browser data
Light or dark themeShowing the site in the look you chose.Until you clear your browser data
Completed guidesTicking off the guides you have already finished.Until you clear your browser data
Quiz resultRemembering your score on the Word quiz.Until you clear your browser data

This is technical data: it does not identify you, it is not sent to our server or to anyone else, and it disappears when you clear your browsing data. Because it is strictly needed to provide a feature you switched on yourself, it does not require consent under the Spanish Data Protection Agency's (AEPD) cookie guidance. We still think you should know it is there.

Third-party cookies: Google AdSense advertising

DocuDojo is funded by Google AdSense ads. To display them and measure how they perform, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies and identifiers in your browser. Depending on your choice, the ads can be:

  • Personalised: Google uses your activity on this and other sites to pick more relevant ads and to limit how often you see the same one.
  • Non-personalised: ads are chosen from the content of the page and general data such as your approximate location, not from a profile of you. Cookies are still used to count impressions and prevent fraud.

These are the Google cookies most commonly found on a site that runs AdSense:

CookieProviderPurposeTypical duration
__gadsGoogle (under docudojo.com)Measuring interactions with ads and preventing the same ad from being shown too often.13 months
__gpiGoogle (under docudojo.com)Identifier for personalised ads and frequency capping.13 months
IDEGoogle (doubleclick.net)Recording actions after you see or click an ad, and measuring its effectiveness.13 months in the EEA and the UK
NIDGoogle (google.com)Remembering preferences and, if you allow it, personalising ads.6 months
CONSENTGoogle (google.com)Storing your consent state for Google services.Up to 2 years

Google may use other cookies or identifiers depending on your browser, your location and your choice. The complete, up-to-date list with exact durations is on Google's pages about how it uses information from sites that use its services and about advertising. We cannot see the contents of these cookies or change them: Google manages them under its own privacy policy.

Your consent

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland

Before any advertising cookie is loaded, you will see a consent banner. It is a Google-certified consent management platform. From the banner you can:

  • Accept: ads load with cookies and identifiers, for the purposes listed in the banner.
  • Reject: no advertising cookies are set. You may still see ads, but they will not be based on your activity. Every guide stays available just the same.
  • Manage options: decide purpose by purpose and partner by partner.

The banner remembers your choice so it does not ask on every visit. You can change or withdraw it whenever you like with the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens the banner.

If you are outside those regions

You may not see the European banner, and Google may apply the rules of your country or region instead. In California, for example, a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" notice may be shown (CCPA/CPRA). Either way, you can always limit cookies using the options in the next section.

Managing cookies yourself

  • Google ad settings. At adssettings.google.com you can turn off ad personalisation for your Google account across all sites.
  • Your browser. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all let you view, block and delete cookies and local storage, for every site or just for some. For Chrome, Google explains how on its help page; for the others, search for "cookies" in the browser's help. If you block everything, DocuDojo will still work, but it will not remember your language, your theme or your completed guides.
  • Advertising industry tools. Your Online Choices (Europe) and aboutads.info (United States) let you opt out of interest-based advertising from many companies at once.

Server logs

They are not cookies, but they are worth mentioning. Our hosting provider, Hostinger International Ltd., keeps technical logs of each request (IP address, date and time, page requested and browser) for security purposes, for a limited time. You will find more detail in the privacy policy.

Legal basis and your rights

Advertising cookies are set only with your consent (Article 22.2 of Spain's LSSI and the GDPR). Browser preferences are stored because they are needed for a feature you switch on. Server logs rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with the Cookie settings link. You can also exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to hello@docudojo.com. If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).

Changes to this policy

If the cookies or technologies used on DocuDojo change (for example, if we add a new service), we will update this page and the date at the top. If you have any questions, get in touch through the contact page.
